“Destiny has not made us poor; the exploitation of our agricultural and forest produce has dumped us in a gutter of distress. An alternative political movement powered by resurgent struggling masses will script a solution to this problem.”

Kailash Mishra is a Post Graduate from Ravenshaw College with a L.LB degree. During his college days the distressed condition of the people and their helplessness motivated him to join Jayaprakash Narayan's “Total Revolution Movement 1975-77”.

He participated in Student and Youth Movements during 1977-81, and was elected President of Ravenshaw College. He was the 1st Elected Student Member of the Utkal University Senate in 1981-82.

He promised to himself to change the socio-economic condition of the masses. He voluntarily joined the NGO movement and concentrated all his strength for eradication of poverty among small and marginal farmers and other weaker sections of the society. His experience led him to establish AWARENESS and he became the Founder President of the organisation and continues as such till today.

He has authored a book named “Chaturtha Biswa” (4 th World) and quite a number of booklets and articles on poverty eradication, displacement and agriculture and forest produce. He organised the National Consensus Convention on Poverty and Hunger at New Delhi on 17 th March 2004.
